Indianapolis Colts Take On Atlanta Falcons in Berlin – NFL Week 10
Hello, fussball enthusiasts. How are you? Everything good I trust on this fine early start to week 10 coming directly from Deutschland. The Olympiastadion in Berlin to be exact where at 9:30 AM EST and 2:30 PM GMT the powerful Indianapolis Colts (seven wins and two losses) take on the Atlanta Falcons (3-5). This marks the fifth matchup played on soil in Germany and the initial in the nation’s capital.
Pregame Highlights
When it comes to glittering attire that is an real standout from Katarina Witt on the opening flip. A minor slip from the broadcast team there as we hear “which team got the coin flip?” from the presenter with an unfortunately hot mic.
So, the Colts have won the toss and have elected to receive. The Colts' offense will be setting up shortly. Can the quarterback recover after a difficult performance in their last game?
Not to be outdone the singer belting out the Star Spangled Banner has some of the largest shoulder pads you are ever likely to see. The fashion picks are impressive today. We are almost underway after a choral number for the national anthem of Germany. Classy.
Opening Period Gameplay
Scoreless at 13:30 in the first
Here we go! And we have early drama after Jonathan Taylor receives a short throw, sweeps out for 15 yards to the right side then loses the ball … only for his offensive lineman to recover the fumble with the recovery. Indianapolis quickly moves into Atlanta's half.
Colts 0-0 Falcons 10:51, 1st quarter
And the excitement continues as the Indianapolis attempts a fourth-down conversion. The gamble fails to pay off as Josh Downs cannot reel in a fastball from Jones. Prior to the failed attempt Jessie Bates put a massive tackle on tight end Mo Alie-Cox. The Falcons have come out fighting on defense as they try and snap their three-game losing streak. Following that, Sauce Gardner makes his first appearance!
Touchdown Updates
First score: Colts lead 6-0 at 8:36
Was that a missed touchdown by Kyle Pitts? The tight end drops a clanger, he was wide open but the ball just swishes through his hands. That moment reflects the first round pick’s career to date.
So far, so disappointing but it only deteriorates for the Falcons as they turn over possession to the Colts on the 23-yard line. The Falcons quarterback is hunted down and fumbles the football.
A nifty 22-yard run from the Colts receiver sets Jonathan Taylor up to roll in for the score on the following play. The placekicker skews the extra point wide. Oops.
Falcons respond: 6-7 at 6:07
The quarterback recovers from the turnover by leading Atlanta on a long drive for a touchdown. Drake London makes some chunky receptions to put them in the red zone then the seas part for Tyler Allgeier to run untouched into the end zone through the middle of the defense for a 13-yard gain. The running back finishes it off for a one-yard touchdown of his own. The Falcons take the lead.
Other Week 10 Matchups
Additionally, the full slate starting at 12pm CST/1pm EST/6pm GMT (with home teams first) is as follows:
(5-4) Panthers v New Orleans Saints (1-8)
(5-3) Chicago Bears v New York Giants (2-7)
(3-5) Texans v Jacksonville Jaguars (5-3)
(2-7) Dolphins v Bills (6-2)
(4-4) Vikings v Ravens (3-5)
(1-7) Jets v Cleveland Browns (2-6)
(6-2) Buccaneers v New England Patriots (7-2)
What a feast. My pick for the best game is the Vikings and Ravens playing out the top contest of the day.
