Canada's skeleton athletes were cleared of accusations that they rigged a selection race for the Winter Olympics, thereby denying rival athletes a chance to secure their place.

A prominent American athlete a five-time Olympian alleged the team from Canada of pulling a majority of its competitors from a recent event in New York. She claimed this reduced the field, making fewer qualifying points available. Although she took first place, the American athlete did not secure her qualifying position for the 2026 Olympics.

“The current IBSF Rules allow National Federations to pull competitors from competition at any time,” declared the International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation (IBSF).

After reviewing the matter, the IBSF stated it would take no action, rejecting the allegations as there was no breach of its code.

In response, the Canadian federation stood by the withdrawals, citing competitor health and the need for recovery.
