British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday evening. The athlete was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two dear friends.”
The news of his discharge follows the sports world offered condolences for the fighter in the wake of the devastating accident.
